Ligne Aide Abus Aînés line, 1-888-489-ABUS (2287)

Provincial telephone line intended to help seniors who are suffering abuse and mistreatment.

Any person concerned (senior citizen, family caregiver, family member, case worker, etc.) may contact the confidential, bilingual (English and French) toll-free line from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week. They have access to professionals specialized in elder abuse who can offer them listening, support, information, a telephone assessment of the situation, an ad hoc crisis intervention, as needed, telephone follow-up, guidance or referral to the most appropriate organization.

For the past several years, to give the province's health and social services professionals the benefit of its expertise regarding elder abuse, the Ligne Aide Abus Aînés telephone line (LAAA) offers a telephone consulting service to professionals who have to intervene in abuse situations.

This innovative LAAA service seeks to support professionals in their interventions with seniors by a discussion of the clinical and ethical aspects facing them. Professional consultation favours a more complete analysis of the situation (assessment) and possible relevant interventions, to improve protection of seniors in an abuse situation.

With the goal of optimizing access to this service and facilitating contact with the case workers the LAAA has created an online professional consultation query, which can be completed directly on the LAAA website.

In a few clicks, you can access an online form that is easy and quick to complete! An LAAA case worker will return the call at the time that best suits you, during our hours of operation (7 days a week, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.).
