Call for Projets for Indigenous Communities – 2021

On October 25, 2021, Mathieu Lacombe, the Minister for Families, announced the launch of a Call for Projects for the creation of 1,000 subsidized spaces in educational childcare services reserved for indigenous communities.

Respondents who wish to prepare and submit a proposal have until February 28, 2022 to do so.

Proposals can be submitted under two different modes:

Regular mode

Regular mode involves submitting a complete proposal for analysis by February 28, 2022 at the latest. All eligible proposals will be analyzed during the winter of 2022, so that the projects that are retained can be approved and initiated more quickly than proposals that are submitted via a notice of interest.

"Support/Consultation" mode

Support/Consultation mode involves submitting a notice of interest by February 28, 2022 at the latest.

Based on the information submitted in the form, support will be offered to respondents who are facing obstacles in developing a project. This support will be tailored to the specific situation, and will include all aspects related to the Call for Projects procedure:
  • General information concerning the Call for Projects and the distribution of spaces;
  • Seeking opportunities;
  • The submission of a proposal (form, information and required documents);
  • The eligibility and compliance of a proposal;
  • The evolution of the project over time in terms of human, financial and material resources.

Completed proposals must then be submitted for analysis by April 21, 2022 at the latest.

The following priorities have been established for the distribution of spaces and the analysis of projects:

  • Projects that optimize the offer of childcare services (increase or maximize the offer of childcare services by using available and unused parts of a facility);
  • Projects with an associated partner, such as a study environment or a project that represents a priority for a community;
  • Proposals that include the creation of spaces intended for infants (up to 18 months old);
  • Projects for which the offer of services includes integration of children with special needs;
  • Projects that have the best chance of being implemented.

Priority will be given to CPEs and daycare centres that demonstrate that they can make spaces available most quickly.

Before submitting a proposal, carefully read the Guide for Applicants for Subsidized Educational Childcare Spaces – Call for Projects Dedicated to Indigenous Communities - 2021.
