On December 8, 2017, the Educational Childcare Act was amended among other things to prohibit recognized childcare providers (childcare centres, day care centres or home childcare providers) from applying or tolerating inappropriate educational attitudes or practices with the children in their care.
As a result of this amendment, the ministère de la Famille has published a guide to prevention and treatment of inappropriate attitudes and practices to inform recognized childcare providers and coordinating offices about the scope of the new provision, their responsibility for the health, safety and well-being of the children, and how complaints are processed..
