The 2012 Québec Survey of Child Development in Kindergarten (QSCDK) was conducted by the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ) in cooperation with the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, Ministère de la Famille, Ministère de l’Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur and Avenir d’enfants. The QSCDK is part of the Initiative concertée d’intervention pour le développement des jeunes enfants (ICIDJE). The results of the QSCDK are presented in the ISQ report.
The QSCDK document entitled Garder le cap sur le développement global des jeunes enfants : l’importance des mots utilisés pour parler was produced by the Ministère de la Famille to support the mobilization resulting from the ISQ survey. It aims to shine a light on the issues associated with the use of notions such as “school preparation” and “vulnerable child,” which are often used in discussions surrounding the QSCDK and other similar investigations. The tool is also used to help prevent the inappropriate use of certain elements making up the QSCDK measurement tool, as well as any ensuing early education. It invites stakeholders to stay focused on the global development of young children in the actions they implement as part of the QSCDK.
